We are pleased and very proud to announce that the For Art’s Sake Auction held on the 8th of November raised $16,284.20. This money will be donated to Regional Arts Victoria based in the Murrindindi Shire this week. Marilyn Gourley is the Arts Recovery Project Officer, the position funded by Regional Arts Victoria, post fires and based in the Murrindindi Shire. Marilyn will distribute the funds to arts projects and artists within the bushfire affected areas.
We are extremely excited that the money raised will assist in the recovery of the Arts in bushfire affected areas of Victoria. It has also been a wonderful opportunity to work collaboratively with our colleagues here at the Convent as well as supporting our country counterparts in a really constructive and fulfilling way.
We wish to thank all the artists and professional practitioners who donated their work, time and resources for this fundraising event. Collectively we were able to create a truly significant body of work, an amazing web site and a wonderful exhibition and auction in the Community Room for the Abbotsford Convent’s Open Day 2009.
www.forartssake.com.au will remain an active site, with a view to fostering the development of The Abbotsford Convents Arts Community. It will be a place to promote, market, blog, sell and inform the world of anything current at The Abbotsford Convent. Details of how the site will operate will be released very soon. If you have any ideas for this please contact Matt and Toula at toula@digitalkulcha.org
